Possible Portfolio Outcomes (You could measure these)

Some of the most compelling reasons for establishing a portfolio, or refreshing an existing one, can be quite hard to measure. It doesn’t matter too much what level of the organization the portfolio lives at, either.

The portfolio can make work visible, inviting strategic conversations on a cadence. You will need to dedicate wonderful humans and perseverance to make this happen.

Here are three measures in the governance and engagement category that my inspire your thinking for organizing the outcomes for your desired change.

  1. Fram a gap between business goals and technology delivery to collaboration between business and technology, at multiple levels (exec, program, team).

  2. From limited or low collaboration and alignment between business and technology teams after work has started (we did the kickoff together….wasn’t that enough?) to frequent collaboration and adaptation from learning as new information emerges.

  3. From hardships when priorities change at the product or domain level to support of efforts focused on delivery of true business value.
